Foundations

We are up in Burleson visiting Stan's brother & his wife, Stan's other brother, & their parents because we get to go to a COWBOYS' game tomorrow! I am so excited; I've never been to a professional football game before.

I've been trying to go to sleep for a few hours (no, I don't think I'm that excited about the game!) & I started thinking about the problems that our house is having. For those of you who don't know, our foundation is cracked in half & has been now for 6 months. After much agonizing & praying & calling, we found out the day after Christmas that the warranty company is going to fix it! The details still have to be ironed out, but the big issue of "To cover or not to cover" is dealt with & over.

It strikes me as strange that the foundation of a house can even be fixed at all. It seems to me that if the foundation is off-kilter, then the whole house is too & it's better to scrap it & start over from scratch. Not so, though. The same thing is really true for God as well. We may feel bad & rotten to the core, but God can still fix us. He can come into our hearts & lives and drill holes & put in scripture and make us all better again. Isn't that amazing? Isn't it amazing that when we've fallen on our faces & messed up so badly so many times, our foundation isn't screwed up beyond repair? God's love will always bring us back & make us stronger than we ever were.
